A difficult manager can provide lessons about leadership, but harm is not tuition and no one owes a workplace 12 months of endurance.
When it is safe and useful, observe specific behaviour:
- What happened without reducing the person to a type?
- How did it affect the work and the people involved?
- What would a better response have looked like?
- Which boundary, report, support, or exit option is available?
Do not treat a manager as a lab animal, use abuse to train emotional control, or measure calm by heart rate. Documenting patterns can help someone learn and decide. It should not normalize humiliation or delay a necessary response.
