Colophon
Made for durable reading.
The UV Almanac is designed as a long-lived record of thinking rather than a stream optimized for constant novelty.
Writing and publishing
The Almanac uses a Markdown-first publishing practice and renders its public record as static pages. Original publication dates, stable URLs, revision dates, and source relationships are preserved so that changes in thinking remain visible without rewriting chronology.
Design
The visual system favors quiet hierarchy, generous space, and legible reading widths. Newsreader carries editorial headings. JetBrains Mono carries navigation, metadata, and reading text. The interface is responsive, keyboard accessible, and usable without animation or decorative interaction.
Technology
The site is built with Astro and deployed as static HTML through Cloudflare Pages. Search uses a local site index in the browser. Syndication is available through Atom feeds. Most reading and navigation continue to work without client-side JavaScript.
Principles
- Reader utility over source-system vocabulary.
- Stable work identity and flat canonical URLs.
- Visible dates and material revisions.
- Private editorial machinery kept out of public reading surfaces.
- Static, portable output with replaceable infrastructure.
Current generation
This site is the third-generation UV Almanac system, maintained as UVALMANAC_2026_V03.
