High-Resolution Craft: The End of Convenience

Last revised

Convenience can hide the labour, materials, and systems behind an ordinary product. It can also make life safer, more accessible, and less wasteful.

A cup of coffee offers one way to notice the chain of growing, processing, transport, preparation, and service. Grinding beans or using a handmade mug may deepen attention for one person. It does not make the drink more respectful by definition.

A craft review can ask:

  1. Where would more care materially improve the result?
  2. Where is speed or convenience the right design choice?
  3. Whose labour and infrastructure remain invisible?
  4. What level of finish fits the purpose, cost, and audience?
  5. When has polishing become waste or delay?

There is no reliable formula in which 5 percent more effort doubles quality. The PolyNxt reference adds promotion rather than evidence and is omitted.
