On July 12, 2026, I revisited Ikigai as an alignment check rather than a search for one permanent purpose.

The familiar diagram brings together what you love, what you are good at, what others need, and what can sustain you financially. I find the questions more useful in the present tense:
- What gives me energy now?
- Which abilities am I still developing?
- Who receives meaningful value from this work?
- Does it support the life and obligations I actually have?
None of these signals is infallible. Energy changes, skill can grow without enjoyment, meaningful work may not be measurable, and financially viable work is not merely a purpose that pays rent.
The circles also move as life changes. I revisit them periodically to notice drift, not to demand perfect balance or let one question dissolve every prior commitment.
The framework does not deliver an aligned life. It helps me ask where adjustment may be due.
