Routine can protect attention, health, relationships, and reliable delivery. It can also persist after it stops serving its purpose.
That tension is not a law of entropy or proof that people are biologically trapped by comfort. Familiar choices do not automatically produce irrelevance, and novelty does not guarantee a breakthrough.
A controlled exploration practice can ask:
- Which routine is still useful, and what evidence supports it?
- Where has habit replaced a decision that deserves review?
- What small, reversible alternative could be tested?
- What cost would novelty impose on me or others?
- When should the result be reviewed?
Exploration needs no fixed percentage or schedule. Change is valuable when it improves learning or outcomes, not merely because it is change.
