Luck is not fully controllable. Exposure is more adjustable.

Many useful encounters look accidental in retrospect: a person sees a piece of work, a conversation reveals a shared problem, or an introduction arrives when both sides are ready. The outcome may be fortunate, but the conditions were not always random. Someone made the work visible, entered the conversation, or stayed close enough to a field for the encounter to become possible.
This is not a promise that visibility produces opportunity. Public work can be ignored. Events can consume time without creating a single meaningful relationship. A large network can remain shallow. The point is narrower: if nobody can see what we are working on, and we rarely meet people engaged with adjacent problems, the number of possible useful encounters becomes very small.
Increasing exposure does not require constant broadcasting. It may mean publishing one honest piece of work, asking a thoughtful question in a small group, helping someone without treating the exchange as a transaction, or returning regularly to a community where trust can accumulate. Consistency matters because people often need more than one encounter before they understand what we care about and whether we are reliable.
The quality of the surface matters more than its size. Being visible to everyone is less useful than being legible to a few people who share the problem. The same is true of rooms. A relevant conversation with five attentive people may create more possibility than an audience of thousands with no reason to respond.
There is also a limit. Exposure can become performance, and participation can become avoidance of the work itself. If every hour is spent expanding the network, there may be nothing substantial for the network to discover.
So keep both sides alive: do work worth encountering, and create a few honest ways for the right people to encounter it. This does not manufacture luck. It gives luck more places to arrive.
