From the Architect, August 5, 2025
Every framework has a first sentence. For DLM, mine was this: in the LLM era, DLM matters more.
1. The Noise Everyone Was Chasing
When this thought first surfaced, the market was fixated on one axis: LLMs. Model size, model speed, model cost. Everyone was optimizing the machine.
[Architect's Note] The mistake was never using LLMs. The mistake was believing the machine was the unit of advantage.
2. The Human Counter-Move
At Upsquare, the counter-move was not another model. It was a redefinition of the professional operating inside the model.
DLM: Doer. Leader. Manager.
Not three seats. One operator, at three altitudes.
3. Why the Org Chart Broke
Legacy structure separates these functions by design. Doers execute. Leaders decide. Managers coordinate. Every handoff between them is a point of loss.
In an AI-first system, that separation stops being efficient and becomes a liability. The Renter waits for the handoff. The Architect closes the loop personally.
4. The Real Bet
The bet was not on talent. It was on range.
A quick-learning generalist who can build, guide, and manage without waiting for a relay was worth more than three specialists connected by process.
No handoffs. No silos. Just ownership carried end to end.
5. Where the Advantage Actually Lives
This is the line that has held: the AI advantage does not come from delegation. It comes from integration.
Delegation assumes distance between doing and deciding. Integration collapses that distance. The person closest to the work should also be the person closest to the call.
6. What Still Holds
If you can learn fast, you can do almost anything.
If you can do, lead, and manage without waiting for someone else's seat, you are built for this era.
[Architect's Note] This was never a productivity framework. It was a claim about where ownership belongs when tools change faster than org charts do.
#DhandheKaFunda: Better orgs aren't made of roles. They're made of range.
